Dedicated video memory query

Hi,

I have less dedicated video memory in HD4000 than HD3000, I would like to know why it has been reduced by 4 times in a newer chip.

Acer Aspire 5750:

memory: 8GB

HD3000

Total available Memory: 1760MB

Dedicated Video Memory: 128MB

Shared System Memory: 1632MB

Acer Aspire E1-571:

Memory: 4GB

HD4000

Total available Graphics Memory: 1792MB

Dedicated Video memory: 32MB

Shared System Memory: 1760MB

I am aware that the dedicated memory can not be increased due to BIOS restrictions but I would like to hear an explanation as to why from someone more experienced, Thanks in advance.

@ brummyfan, Could you check to see what the Video Memory settings are in the BIOS of your systems?

Also, what OS are you running on your systems? And finally, what versions of Intel HD Graphics drivers are you using.

Hi Robert_U, Thanks for the response, I have 128MB showing in BIOS (HD3000 running Windows 7).

64MB showing in BIOS (HD4000 running Windows 8.1)

Acer Aspire 5750

HD3000- Driver Version:9.17.10.3347

Acer Aspire E1-571:

HD 4000- Driver version: 10.18.10.3496

I also have the AU Optronics B156XW02 v6 screen in both systems.

Thanks again for your time.

EDIT: I have forgotten to attach my snips.
