Hello, so I've looked all over the forums and google for an answer to my question and have not found one yet -- probably since the Galileo is still in its infancy. Before I buy one of these, I would very much like to know if it's possible to use the Galileo's built-in ethernet directly from the Arduino IDE without having to use an external shield. I have seen other posts about how to use the micro SD card reader from Arduino, and that's easy enough using a "system" call, but I'm wondering if I have to also make a system call to use it or if the built-in ethernet is solely reserved for the linux image and is completely unusable by Arduino?
The onboard Ethernet Port should be accessible via Linux and Arduino® IDE using the Ethernet library. You can even use a sketch to set up a Telnet connection to access Linux with an Ethernet cable via putty. Take a look at this post: https://communities.intel.com/message/218894#218894
