Hi!
I have a problem with the game The Sims 2. When I had Windows 8, the game worked fine, but I updated to Windows 8.1 and I had to update the Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers too because the game didn't work anymore. And now there's a black rectangle under the sims feet:
That black rectangle is supposed to be the shadow. If I set it to "medium", the rectangle goes away, but there's no shadow either.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having a similar issue using this same graphics card - Intel HD Graphics 4000 - with the latest drivers.
My operating system is Windows 8.1 64bit.
I'm playing Sanandreas Multiplayer which is a multiplayer mod for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto Sanandreas.
Since updating to Windows 8.1, health and armour information is not drawing above the players head as highlighted in the red circle:
This is how it looks when running Windows 8:

Hi Laslo,
It is important to say that the game you are trying to play is a game released in 2004 meaning that it may not be compatible with the operating system you are using.
Jay__,
It seems that the game you have was released on 2006, so my recommendation is to contact the game developer to confirm with them if the game is compatible with the operating system.
The drivers for your controller can be downloaded at the following link:

Kevin, if the game worked fine in Windows 8, and it doesn't in Windows 8.1 then there it has to be something else. I know multiple people, I'm sure Jay does to that the game worked fine on Windows 8 and not on Windows 8.1. People using another graphic card brand with Windows 8.1 have said the game works fine for them. So this has to be a Intel Graphics Card driver issue in Windows 8.1

Mmtechmatt,
In the case you are having the problem; can you please provide the graphics report and the dxdiag report here?
How to get it?
Dxdiag Report: Type dxdiag in Start Menu> open> Save> Copy/Paste here.
Graphics Report: Right click on desktop> Graphics Properties> Options> Drop Down Menu> Information Center> Save> Open .txt file created> Copy/Paste here.

Alright I got those files off my friend's computer as I don't have this card and these problems but he does so here:
anna-dxdiag and anna-graphics is him
Then I also have another person who I play this game with who also is having the problem but on another different card from Intel, so I had him give me his text files and I posted them for him: parachute-dxdiag and parachute-graphics
So this is not a compatibility issue, it is a Intel Graphics Card issue seen in 8.1 on the latest drivers as the game works fine under 8.1 using other graphics cards. Hopefully it gets fixed.

Kevin, I am running a Lenovo H430 PC using Intel HD Graphics. I am experiencing the same issue, I have looked at the config file that was in the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection folder in "my documents", and the log said that the Intel HD Graphics driver (or whatever) was not found in the database. Is there a way to get this fixed?

Guys,
I am sorry you have been waiting so long for an answer. We have been working on this but I need you to do the following:
1. Make sure you have the latest BIOS installed.
2. Update graphics driver to latest. For those who have HD 4000/ HD 4200/ HD 4400/ HD 4600, download the driver at:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23885&lang=eng&ProdId=3712 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23885&lang=eng&ProdId=3712
If during the installation you have problems, try the steps here:
https://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-22542 https://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-22542
3. Test the system without any other video card connected.
Once you have done the steps below, provide the following:
1. Attach as a separate file your dxdiag report and graphics report here. How to get it?
Dxdiag Report: Type dxdiag in Start Menu> open> Save.
Graphics Report: Right click on desktop> Graphics Properties> Options> Drop Down Menu> Information Center> Save.
2. Explain step by step how you reproduce the issue and during the game when exactly it happens.
I really appreciate all feedback you can provide.

In this case under the download links for drivers provided by the Computer Manufacture there should be one called BIOS. I see that for your computer there are driver listed for Windows 7 32 bit only. Here you can download the Latest BIOS:

You can also provide the graphics report or dxdiag report to know your graphics controller.
How to get it?
Dxdiag Report: Type dxdiag in Start Menu> open> Save>
Graphics Report: Right click on desktop> Graphics Properties> Options> Drop Down Menu> Information Center> Save>
Please attach the files here.
