Just some additional info:
I've the latest BIOS installed.
I can boot into Ubuntu 12.04 using the LiveCD, however because there's no Internet can't install the wireless drivers to see if that's working
Seems like a faulty motherboard?
While I still have no Internet in Visual Bios, Xubuntu 13.10 has resolved my networking issues for now.
Unfortunately, when attempting to install Xubuntu 13.10 from a minimal iso, NIC does not seem to be detected.
I am sorry to hear that you have had issues with NIC cards on your system.
Please take a look at the list of supported operating systems:
So far there are no networking issues with a full install of Xubuntu 13.10 and I assume the missing drivers in the minimal install will be resolved by the Ubuntu community eventually.
However, there is still no network detected in the Intel Visual BIOS, even when an Ethernet cable is connected directly to the cable modem.
