At risk of breaking a forum rule, I would suggest something like:
EBay has a vast selection of suitable cards, and the Intel 6235 seemed like the best one to me.
And good grief - $20 for a dual band wifi and bluetooth card with cables and antennas is giving them away. Mine is running Ruby on Rails 24 / 7 now. Someday soon I will have it doing something useful...
Ebay seems to have a cheaper price, but I really don't like ordering off ebay. I have been snipped too many times, and have heard stories about people not getting what they were bidding on.
I would recommend Amazon or Newegg. Both have wireless cards and antenna. personally, I used these:
- Amazon.com: Intel Network 6235AN.HMWWB Centrino WiFi Card Half Mini PCI Express Advanced-N 6235 Dual Band Bluetooth: Computers & Accessories
- Amazon.com: Tyco Wifi & Bluetooth Antenna: Everything Else
- Amazon.com: Half to Full Height Mini PCI Express(PCI-E) Card Bracket Adapter: Computers & Accessories
I like the laptop antennas because eventually I believe I will put all of this into a box. Having the big desktop antennas sticking out, would look ugly. Though I think the bigger antennas perform better.
Also, You will need a half height to full height adapter if you are going with the n6235. (also if you go with that version you will have to install your own WiFi drivers. Sergey has instructions on how to do that. Intel Galileo Meets Wireless - Malinov Family Web Presence
Actually - that Amazon link is specifically the one I purchased. Then I bought antennas and bracket separately.
My total was more than the EBay one by quite a bit, but still not much more than $30.
My luck on ordering from China through EBay has been good - not burned yet. But then I don't risk much either.
I -think- 0.8.0 included the right driver for the 6235. I did download the driver for 0.7.5, but I sure have no memory of needing it for 0.8.0.
Just out of humour to see what happens would it work if I slotted a Normal PCI-E adaptor in?
