    DP45SG boot cycle

    mx8111

      I own an Intel DP45SG for about 6 months now, and I am trying to understand what is going on here. Every day that I power up my system I get the following behavior, which I describe in programming statements.

      Do Forever() {

      Case A: fan at normal speed, Power beep, 3 sec delay -> instant reboot

      Case B: fan at high speed, Power beep, 3 sec delay -> instant reboot

      Case C: fan at high speed, Power beep, 3 sec delay, Post beep -> No VGA at all + system running -> Need a manual power off and on

      }

      Until Success: fan at normal speed, Power beep, 3 sec delay, Post beep, fan slowdown -> success boot

      I am getting so used to living through these multiple rebooting, that I can determine a successful boot within 2-3 sec just by the sounds the fan makes. Every time I get my system to start eventually, but this is very annoying. Once the system is running, it is very stable for long hours. I never got a crash so far, even through a burn test.

      I have blamed for long the memory setting being on auto detect, which takes several attempts to get it right. I also though Bios patch will eventually come by to recognize my memory and the problem will be solved. I have tried several things already. It has been 6 months now, and I need so help.

      Thanks,

          I have had the same problem. Each time I update or install software, when the PC

          restarts, the system will hang. I have to hit reset. It then powers up for 3 sec. then stops,

          then boots up. After the reboot is sucessful, it runs as it should. I did upgrade the BIOS

          to ver 0116. Maybe Intel needs to correct this problem in the next BOIS upgrade.

          On first use of the day, when I power up, it is on for 3 sec, stops, then restarts and boots up correctly.
