Windows 8.1 HD4000 HDMI to AV/R causes reboot

Hi, I'm currently running the latest driver version 10.18.10.3379 from windows update on my Windows 8.1 machine. Upon boot the computer restarts before entering Windows. I have a spare AMD HD6540 and it works completely fine in the same scenario. If I try to switch the HDMI from the HD6450 to the HD4000 the display will never initialize and the computer restarts.

The HDMI is connected to a Yamaha RX-V373 to a Samsung LN46C550 TV.

My specs are as follows;

Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 motherboard (latest F8 BIOS)

Intel core i3-3325 (HD4000)

4GB Ram

Hi John_Boyle,

I am sorry to hear you are having problems but let me help you.

Based on your description it seems you have a video card connected to the system. When the video card is connected in the PCI slot, the onboard video will be disabled.

I recommend you disconnecting the video card from your system before installing the driver. Since you are using the Microsoft driver, I recommend you uninstalling the current driver and downloading the latest generic driver from our side at the following link:

Hi kevin_intel,

I installed the extra video card because I was having these issues as a temporary solution. Nevertheless, I followed your instructions and removed the extra card. When connected directly to the samsung TV, the computer will boot and work fine, however, if I attempt to install the drivers as you suggested, it gives an error and says drivers cannot be installed. Attempting to manually install the driver (device manager, hd 4000 ... install from disk) produces a system crash. If I boot the computer connected to the TV through the AVR (no driver change) it crashes and flashes blue (clear graphics driver crash).

Please advise.

John
