Please try updating the bios in your system. You can get it at the following link:
It is also important to say that it is necessary to install the latest Management Engine driver provided by the computer manufacturer. Since you have installed the drivers from our side, I recommend you clearing the CMOS and doing a power cycle.
If issue persists I recommend you contacting the computer manufacturer for any diagnose from their part or replacement if necessary.
There's only one BIOS - in my case revision F2 was already pre-installed. I also have the upcoming F4 BIOS from Gigabyte for testing (dual screen issue with a 4K screen...), but it didn't change anything.
I also have the management engine driver installed available from Gigabyte's homepage ( GIGABYTE - Desktop PC - Mini-PC Barebone - GB-BXi7-4500 (rev. 1.0)), Driver version is 22.214.171.1248. If there's a newer one, please point out the proper download - your own driver update utility (Intel® Driver Update Utility) does not even detect the management engine drivers and searching for them brings up a couple of conflicting downloads.
I can hardly imagine this being a hardware issue seeing that the problem is very specific. It doesn't even occur if Windows brings the lock screen if the lock screen just needs a klick / key press to get back to the desktop, it really only happens if there's a lockscreen, the user is already logged in, and I have to re-enter my credentials).
The Intel® Driver Utility will detect the controllers and devices on Intel products this may be the reason why it is not working properly for your Gigabyte system.
At this point, since You have tried the steps below, I recommend you contacting the computer manufacture for them to check your system.
Gigabyte wanted me to RMA the device - having bought it in another country that wasn't an option.
However, the last two official driver releases seem to have fixed things... I've yet to encounter another driver crash.
It is good to hear it is working now.
