I am sorry but honestly I did not understand your question. Are you trying to separate video and audio from an HDMI?
Yes, that is correct.
I have a small LCD monitor (VGA) and an audio input into the speaker system I am trying to feed.
I reply but they do not show up...??
Let's try this again
The R2-D2 project...I have a VGA mini LCD, thus the need for the converter HDMI isn't standard everywhere (yet)
R2's sound system has a standard audio input jack, thus the need for the audio out , which the newer NUC's have.
I found this but haven't tried it:
Looks useful in that is all enclosed in the cable, and since you mentioned something I forgot (that the new NUC's have analog audio out) I realized you don't need an adapter with the break out for audio.
That won't work, I need the audio out
My NUC doesn't have it. The newer ones do.
What about something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-To-VGA-Output-1080P-HD-Audio-Cable-Converter-Adapter-For-TV-PC-Monitor-/191010066403
I've never tried one so I can't say how well they work. But for $10 it seems worth a shot.
I have a third generation NUC that I ended up tying a StarTech USB audio box to and then dongles for the monitors (Ergotron dual mount so no sound on the already mounted monitors).
Perhaps that would be an alternative? That is to utilize a USB based audio device (the StarTech high end unit produces pretty good sound with optical out too) and a mini-DisplayPort to VGA dongle?
