Need help with choosing wireless adapter card...

I am new to this whole thing, however, I have done a good bit research and am interested in this topic. I want to be able to configure my laptop to use the Intel WiDi function and think I have all the qualifications except I need a different wireless adapter card. I feel more than confident that I can perform this task. Correct me if I am wrong or guide me in the right direction so I can better understand all this. I would really appreciate it.

Since you mentioned 2nd Gen Core CPUs, you need the Centrino series card that were released at the same time as the 2nd Gen Core CPU's release date in order to be fully compatible with the chipset and WiDi.

So here are the only 2 Centrino cards for 2nd Gen CPUs that should have no issues getting WiDi to work:

Intel 6230 (dual band + Bluetooth): http://www.amazon.com/Centrino-Advanced-N-Wireless-Plug-In-Transfer/dp/B005LAIDOY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388044351&sr=8-2&keywords=intel+6230 Amazon.com: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 Wifi Half Mini Wireless Plug-In Card Data Transfer Rate 300 Bps: Computers & Accessories

Intel 6200 (dual band without Bluetooth): http://www.amazon.com/Intel-802-11n-draft-Wi-Fi-Adapter/dp/B0036BJN12/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388044342&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+6200 Amazon.com: Intel 6200 IEEE 802.11n (draft) Wi-Fi Adapter - Mini PCI Express - 300Mbps: Electronics

Do not get the 6205, 6235 or 7260 since those cards are for 3rd Gen and 4th Gen chipsets respectively. If you get these cards, there's a chance that they won't work or that WiDi won't work.

So all I will have to do is uninstall the current card, remove it, get a 6230 card and install it. To install it to the computer do I need to download the software for that card from the Intel download center. Is there an advantage to the Bluetooth or not so much? Also, Is the 6230 card the only 2nd generation card? Just double checking. (Btw this is extremely helpful, thank you very much.)

We suggest checking with your system manufacturer for a list of validated adapters due to general compatibility, and in regards of the compliance with your local wireless standards and certifications.
