    New Build motherboard errors

    hummer59

      Hello

I am hoping someone can help me figure this out.   I am building a PC for my grandson for Christmas.  Using a Intel DP55WG  1156 motherboard and I3-550 processor.   I purchased both off Ebay and I they were both tested.

I am not able to finish post.   Watching the motherboard, I get the following Port 80h Post Codes (at least the ones that stay long enough for me to write down)

      27,26, 64, 60, 36, 39, 36, 4F, 51

After 51, it shuts down and does it again.

The only thing that I can find is something to do with bios version not being compatible with cpu.

I don't have another cpu to test.  So that's out.

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Cheers

R, the information given by Doc is totally correct. These system combination is out of support since December 2012.  http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-033901.htm

If you can still return the products,  I would recommend you to do it.

If you can't return them,  please follow this troubleshooting steps:

          - Test the system out of the chassis, minimal configuration please. (Motherboard, processor, power supply, and video card) Test the system without memory installed looking for beep codes.

          - Remove the CMOS battery and leave the system without it for about an hour. Then put it back on and restart the system.

-Add one memory stick and restart the system

Update....turned out it was a combination of under power and graphics card...but it did create another situation.

            To bring up to speed.

I contacted the seller...he tested the mobo with the same cpu, so bios was not the issue.

Basically the code I was seeing was indicating no graphics.   I checked the specs again on the graphics card and I was under powered...so I replaced the PS.  The MOBO would now go through the codes and get to 00 on the display on the mobo but still no video.

Tried another, older graphics card and boot....now video...and bios!  woohoo!

Set video in bios to use ext. pcie 16x slot

            Shutdown

Swapped cards...no video!  no errors...but no video

Removed new card and put older card in PCI 8x slot....video

Then put new card in 16x slot while keeping the old card in 8x slot.  Connect cable to only new card...video

Weird....tried without old card again, just new card...no video.

So my question is now...is there any way to remove that old card and get video?

The bios version by the way is 5926

            Any insight would be great.

            Thanks

Hummer59, since the motherboard is giving you video using the older video card, that means that the problem you are experiencing is related to compatibility between the newer video card and the motherboard.

I would recommend you check the video card manufacture if they have tested that card on this specific motherboard.

There is also a newer BIOS version that you may want to install on your board. It is version 5936
