HD4600 resolution problem with HP LA2405x monitor

I'm having trouble with Intel HD4600 driving an HP LA2405x, and limiting the top resolution to 1920 x 1080.

The monitor's native resolution is 1920x1200.

Is this a bug? It looks like one as the mode is explicitly listed.

custommodeapp complains that the bandwidth is exceeded. Which makes it unhelpful. I guess it is making the same mistake as the main resolution utility.

The monitor information says:

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
