I'm guessing that in your old NUC you weren't using low voltage RAM. In the old NUC low voltage RAM is supported but not required. In the new one, it is required.
Mark_A, for this kind of behavior what we usually recommend is to clear the CMOS removing the battery from the board. In your case, would you please unplug or disconnect the battery wire from the connector and leave the system without it for about an hour?
For additional information on how to do this please check the following article.http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-034366.htm
Let me know which is the current BIOS version and which operating system are you using?
Also, let me have the complete model number of the RAM you are using?
This link has additional information about memory features
The memory is Corsair CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10. Everything I now read indicates this is 1.5v memory not the 1.35v I guess I need. I purchased a stick of Patriot PSD38G1600L2S last night and will try this first. It is 1.35v. I'm guessing there is no way to use the Corsair in the newer NUC? Can I get the BIOS version without it being able to POST?
Did the 1.35V RAM fix it? Same problem on my i5 Haswell NuC.
I got my NUC D3401WYK today, been waiting several weeks for the release here. I boot it up after ive installed the ssd and ram... and i got the same error everyone else get.. 3 blinks.
Checked my order 10mina ago, and saw i ordered 1.5v RAM. haha. Stupid it doesnt run on 1.5v aswell as 1.35. I think this will confuse alot of consumers around the globe. Anyway, just put a new order on 8gb 1033mhz 1.35v memoery now. So i guess i'll get them within a few days, i hope they send them tomorrow so i can see if it works during the weekend. I will get back to you if this works or not.
Henrik.B, thanks for sharing that information with us. Something important is that the correct memory speed supported by this NUC is 1600 and 1333 MHZ 1.35 V.
Here is some additional information
Thanks for the answer. I see now i wrote 1033mhz 1.35. I meant 1333mhz ofcourse I will get them tomorrow, then we will see if it works
>>purchased a stick of Patriot PSD38G1600L2S<<
I purchased the same memory. Would you please inform us if it worked on your Haswell. I haven't acquired a Haswell as yet. The above memory is DDR3 below link states that "1.35 V DDR3L" is supported by the Haswell..
Just installed my new 1.35V mem. And it works! Installing windows as we speak. Tech no need to reply.
Thx for everything
Was the memory you just installed DDR3 or DDR3L?
Thanks and congratulations.

Guys, it looks like the Crucial memory part # CT102464BF160B was tested in our labs, but it did not pass.
It was a mistake to include it on the list. We apologize.
