Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2660 processor

Hi, could someone please verify the total CPU GHz for a Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2660 processor using hyperthreading. It has 8 cores per 2.2GHz CPU. I'm working on the assumption that 8 cores equals 16 logical processors with hyperthreading so 16 x 2.2GHz gives a total of 35.2 GHz (48 GHz if you turn on turbo boost)

Thanks

Hi lc2013,

The processor E5-2660 can reach up to 3.0 GHz frequency with the Intel Turbo Boost Technology. Intel® Hyper Threading increases the data processing on multitasking systems but it does not increase the processor clock speed.

You can check more information about the Intel® Hyper Threading:

Here is also a demo of this technology:

Hi Kevin, thanks for your reply. Does the turbo boost work for all 8 cores? I've had a response from someone who said that only one core can get the benefit of turbo boost. I'm after the total CPU capacity of the processor when using turbo boost and multi threading. Each core runs and a standard 2.2 GHz. From what your saying there is no performance gain from multithreading in regards to total CPU capacity its only the physical core speed that gives you this. Therefore even though i can run 2 threads on one core I'm not actually getting 2.2 GHz x 2 performance I'm getting 2.2GHz (or 3GHz with turbo) distributed between the threads. Hope I've made sense of that reply
