Intel adapter teaming

Hello,

I have a problem with teaming Intel Pro/1000 MT dual port server adapter.

As I described in the figure, I have two servers. Each server has Intel PRO 1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter. They are connected directly with 1 Gb network cables. I have configured teaming feature (Team type: Static Link Aggregation). So, I have 2 Gbps link speed. (as expected). All network cards are running as "1 Gbps/ Full Duplex".

Problem. When I send data from one server to another, I am getting only half performance. (Less than 50 %).

I have analyzed performance of the network adapters and realized that for sending (also for receiving) operation it uses only one link.

How can I get ~ 90% performance?

Thanks in advance.

Using link aggregation does not always increase data transfer speeds. Unless multiple TCP/IP conversations are occuring, all traffic will be over just one interface. A good explanation of the behavior of link aggegation can be found in the presentation, http://www.ieee802.org/3/hssg/public/apr07/frazier_01_0407.pdf IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation (LAG): what it is, and what it is not. I hope this helps.

sorry, i can't see the answer in your reply

i have the same situation absolutely, 2 PC with 2 IntelPro/1000, direct connection

i tried different types of teaming, but i reached only 1 Gbps instead of 2Gbps expected

yes, i see "N aggregated links usually do not provide N times the bandwidth" in presentation you linked, but it does not mean that "N aggregated links provide ONLY 1 times the bandwidth"

so, i have almost the same question: "How can I get more than 1 Gbps in teaming of 2 IntelPro/1000 ?"
