Hello dear Community,

my Notebook is Acer Aspire 5920 – 1A2G16Mi with these specifications:

  • CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5250 (1.5 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache)
  • LCD : 15.4'' CrystalBrite WXGA (8ms/220-nit)
  • RAM : 2048MB DDR2 RAM
  • HDD : 160 GB

I use Ubuntu and would like to upgrade my CPU to 64 bit.

Can anybody tell me, whether it is possible? Is the motherboard to 64 bit CPU compatible?

I would be grateful for your answers.

The T5250 processor is a 64 bit compatible processor, so from the processor side, you should not have any issues running 64 bit software.

In order for this to work, the motherboard and its BIOS needs to be 64 bit compatible, and this can be only determined by your system or computer manufacturer, http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/ Acer.

Check the system BIOS for any settings that may refer to enabling 64 bit support or try installing a x64 bit operating system, otherwise check with your system manufacturer to see if the system meets the requirements.
