Intel(R) Graphics HD 4000 Driver for Windows 8.1 (Not Working Properly)

I have an Asus K55A with an Intel core i5 processor.

I installed windows 8.1 today and now my graphics adapter's driver is crashed. I cannot view multiple monitors or adjust my screen resolution settings as it is defaulting to the default microsoft driver.

I have updated to Driver Version:

10.18.10.3316

I still get this notice in the device manager:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Object Name not found.

Can anyone advise, as I MUST have multiple monitors for work.

Thanks

HI,

I have an intel DZ77GA-70K board and the same problem appeared after updating Windows 8 Pro with Media Center to Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center. Tried different drivers and different BIOS graphic card settings but to no avail so far.

I have this same issue. And the same latest driver. Which is very recent. Well within the time frame that Intel had to test and deploy drivers to work with 8.1 RTM. There is no reason that this latest driver should be missing support for an on-time 8.1 release. (today) And this current (latest) driver is what FINALLY fixed the flicker issue I was having in WIndows 8. When it worked fine in Windows 7. So I have had a very short run of my HD 4000 working perfectly since Windows 7. Not happy. And no excuse. Of all the stuff I have on my system, this is the one thing I did not expect issues with for the 8.1 upgrade.

I want to post this as a warning to all who update to this new driver. All yesterday and today I was racking my brain and trying to figure out why my audio wasn't playing, absolutely none of it. I figured out finally today that this new driver update was the culprit, and more specifically, most likely the Intel Display Audio driver. I am running a Lenovo Yoga 13. I reverted back to the original driver this morning and now everything works perfectly. Before, I was getting errors telling me that drivers weren't updated and none of my music was being recognized or played.

FYI-

Just got off of a call with Intel support and for my 64 bit system, they're recommending uninstalling the existing graphics driver (Control Panel >> Programs >> Programs and Features >> Intel Graphics Driver >> Uninstall) and then installing this driver:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23323&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208.1,%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23323&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208.1,%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers

I'm in progress right now, but will post a status update if it works or doesn't work.

This did not work. Error message said my computer didn't meet system requirements for the driver. Back to the drawing board.

Yeah JB23007, unfortunately if you read my first comment, that is the same stupid driver that is the cause of this problem.

I found that if you uninstall and remove all Intel drivers and scan for hardware changes in the Device Manager after that, go to update driver, browse from my computer. Then pick: I will choose from a list and select Microsoft Default Driver it will then show Microsoft's default Graphics adapter as the driver.

Then with a fresh restart you can at least change the screen resolution. But still no multiple monitors. 😕

15.33.5.64.3316 is the driver they had suggested I download. Looks to be different from the one you had an issue with (the one you have an issue with is also the one I had an issue with). Intel support recommended installing the problem driver and installing 15.33.5.64.3316 (linked above) but apparently not supported for my system.

15.33.5.64.3316 is the number for the package, 10.18.10.3316 is the graphics driver number. The devil is in the details. See below:

These drivers will not function with any other product. View the README file for installation information and the RELEASE NOTES for driver version details. This driver package contains version 15.33.5.64.3316 (10.18.10.3316) for Windows 8.1*.

How nice of the guy to suggest that I install the same driver.

Sigh.

Chiming in to say I'm having the same problem on my Haswell machine. My dedicated card works great (Radeon 7950). Device Manager gives me a Code 31 on the Intel HD 4600 graphics since updating to Windows 8.1. Never had an issue in Windows 8.

Running current driver (version 10.18.10.3316). Code 31 on the built-in driver, and after a uninstall/reinstall with the driver from intel.com.

System specs:

Intel i5 4670K (+ Intel HD 4600 graphics)

Asus Z87-Plus

8GB

Radeon 7950

Samsung 840 Evo + 2x HDD

Windows 8.1 x64

Yeah, I have the 3rd gen i7-3770K with HD 4000. And as far as I know, only the HD 4000 had the Windows 8 flicker issue until the current driver. It took Intel about 9 months to solve that issue.

I really hope Intel get a Windows 8.1 driver out real soon.

So I'm running a 3rd generation i7 as well.

Here's a recap of what I've tried (and all of which hasn't worked):

A) Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the current driver. (10.18.10.3316)

B) Tried uninstalling the current driver (10.18.10.3316) and installing the previous driver beta for Windows 8.1.

C) Tried restarting in safe mode, reinstalling the current driver (10.18.10.3316).

D) Clean install of Windows 8.1.

Intel support hasn't been super helpful on the matter. One guy tried to get me to download the driver for a different processor (which I pointed out) and the other guy wanted me to do all of the above (which I'd already done).

Toshiba support (my laptop manufacturer) says its a problem that they're waiting for Intel to patch.

Anyone else have any suggestions. No dual monitors is killing me at work!

Same problem here with a customers Asus Taichi21. Running Windows 8.1, latest drivers from Asus and Intel.

No luck switching to mirror mode from either the Asus hot key/app or the Intel control panel. Extended desktop intermittently works except the front screen (this is a dual tablet/notebook) is upside down which makes it a bit useless for presentations. Tablet mode only intermittently switches also.

Hi

First, my English may not so good as yours, sorry.

Well, in fact as all of you when I upgraded May Taichi21 64 from W8 to W8.1 I had the same problem.

After calling ASUS yesterday (not a big help) and reading this forum, yesterday and today, I finally solve my problem (for now) in downgrading back the display driver from 10.18.10.3316 to the original one 9.17.10.2857 supply by ASUS on his site for W8.

Now everything are working fine again like before including Audio.

Meaning.......

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

hope it help!

Regards

Rolling back to the previous driver causes other problems for me. So rolling back to Windows 8 instead of 8.1 might be the only solution. Contrary to what someone posted yesterday, there have been no new updates to this driver (per this site or Windows Update).

And still no responses from Intel................

I posted my response for the users of Asus Taichi21. I agree that my "solution" may not works for other machines.

When I said that ASUS was not a big help is because they exactly propose me what you plan to do meaning rolling back my computer to his original state W8 by resetting it completely and it's what I have done.

Painful operation but that worked like original.

After that, again, I re installed W8.1 and Bang! the same problem again. Finally I rolled back only the Intel display driver to W8 and it works well now in can switch from desktop to tablet, to mirror and to duplicate and to external display.

By the way, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" at the end of my first message was obviously for INTEL Peoples not for you Waine_Herring.

Hope that you don't it take it for you.

The 3316 graphics driver is working fine for me on 8.1 with a 4600, but they've completed messed up HDMI audio. It drops out every time I turn on my TV/Receiver. I now have to restart every time I want to turn on my TV. Annoying to say the least. It was working great on Windows 8.

As for Cloning the screen, I found that I had to use the NIVIDIA Control Panel rather than

using the Windows Display function from Control Panel or the FN-F8 key combination on my laptop. Those worked for Extending the Desktop or Selecting only one monitor or the other but not for Duplicating.

If you have NVIDIA, use it.
