E6850 processor (chip loaner as i am an Intel employee)
Patriot Viper 4GB 2X2GB 240 pin DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Memory
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W CrossFire Ready 80 plus active PFC
Zalman CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU cooling fan/heatsink
WD Caviar SE 320GB
After completing assembly of the system I receive a "detected CPU is not compatible with this board" yellow message on the screen before POST. I have tried replacing the CPU with another E6850 through the chip loaner program and have RMA'd the MB with Intel. I recieved a brand new MB from Intel on the RMA and am still having the same issue. On a 'i don't know what else to try whim' I swapped out the video card to a X1950XTX Crossfire edition Video card and get the exact same issue. On the first MB i had, i also tried flash updating the BIOS with the same results. I got nowhere using Intel's customer support online and have reached the point where i am ready to order a new motherboard and processor in the hopes of getting something that works.
This is strange. The best thing to do is to try another compatible CPU different model and update the bios to the latest version available on the download page of the board.
Try the system with minimum configuration first.
All the best,
