I see that you are working this on the next thread https://communities.intel.com/thread/43592 but I will answer this for you to help you out.
The information you found is not totally correct. We have found a typo error on the website: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dz77re-75k/sb/CS-033457.htm
It says that the 32 GB maximum total system memory (using 4 GB memory technology) and this is not correct. This will be send to the corresponding department to have it corrected.
The correct information is that the motherboard does support up to 32GB using 8GB per stick but it is necessary to have the following configuration:
SDRAM Organization Front-side/Back-side
Number of SDRAM Devices
512 M x 8 / 512 M x 8
When you get a SDRAM stick it should read in the label a specific configuration and it must meet the above one to be capable of running up to 32BG SDRAM.
Answering to your questing, yes the unit does support 8BG SDRAM modules but using the above structure.
OK, great. Thank you for the info Kevin. Is there a list somewhere of compatible SDRAM models by different vendors such as Kingston, Corsair, etc.?
You are welcome!
