Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 not seeing N Networks (2.4 or 5ghz)

Hello,

I just bought an ASUS laptop running windows 8, and the wireless adapter is a Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 and I am running into some odd situations.

I cranked it up for the 1st time and when I went to connect to the available networks, none of my N networks were showing! 1st thing I did was to visit the Intel web site to look for new drivers, and installed the 15.8.0.5 driver. Still nothing, so I searched more and found the settings I needed to change (Auto in channel width and enable n networks) but here is where it's gets a little strange.....The next thing you are supposed to change is "Wireless Mode" to A/B/G/N (or something showing N...) but the only three options it gives me are B, G, and B/G...NO N!!!! Also, there is no options for the 5GHZ band!

Did Intel make this unit without a 5GHZ band? And is there a reason it's not showing any of my N networks? (I have1 2.4Ghz and 1 5Ghz)

HELP! Thank you!

Hello DesmoPedro, first of all, we have to keep in mind this adapter is single band, meaning 2.4 GHz only, but it connects to 802.11n. Secondly, are you able to detect any wireless networks at all?

I may suggest checking the wireless radio is on and running the manual diagnostics tool from Intel® Proset.

Please note the available options for wireless mode are the combinations of 802.11 b/g. However, 802.11n can be enabled or disabled separately in its own setting "802.11n Mode".
