DDC/CI Support for Intel HD 4600?

I recently built a new computer running Windows 7 Professional. When trying to run NEC's SpectraView software, I get the error message "Unable to communicate with any supported display monitors".

Here is some hardware and driver info for my machine.

MOBO: Asus Z87-A with integrated graphics processor, Intel HD Graphics support

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770

Display adaptor: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, driver version 9.18.10.3071

Monitor: NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXi2(Digital), driver version 2.8.827.1917 connected to the MOBO via DVI

I contacted NEC support who told me "It's most likely possible that your Intel HD chipset does not support DDC/CI communication."

Is this the case? Is there anything I can do about it, other than buying a compatible video card?

Thank you for any help.

~Jon

Hello Wobbly,

It is important to say that our graphics controllers support DDC/CI besides some other technologies and these are automatically activated by installing the graphics driver.

You can check more information about this at the following link:

We recommend you installing the latest graphics driver from our side. You can download it at the following link:

At your first link - http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-020934.htm?wapkw=020934 http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-020934.htm?wapkw=020934 - it is stated that the page applies to http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intelhdgraphics3000_2000/ 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 3000/2000. Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 is not listed.

Also, I had an error in my first message. I have already downloaded and installed the latest driver version 9.18.10.3165 available at your second link. It did not help.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Wobbly.

The Intel® HD Graphics 4600 indeed supports DDC/CI; this is a feature that started to become available since the Intel® 82845G Graphics controller which is an extremely old graphics controller.

Please note the website is not up to date, reason why the Intel® HD Graphics 4600 does not show up; however, the processor features are not downgraded with new releases, instead, they are improved.

DDCI/CI support is already included on the driver; if any issues are presented with the software having the latest graphics driver, our best recommendation is contacting a Field Application Engineer for coding assistance as this would basically mean the software needs to be configured.

The latest graphics driver can be found at: /thread/44095 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22842&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20(64-bit)*&DownloadType=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09Drivers%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09

In order to contact a Field Application Engineer, feel free referring to any of our Intel® Authorized Distributors in order to request one. A list of Intel® Authorized Distributors can be found at the 2 following sites:
