    Video problem with DX58SO boards

      I could really do with some help with this - I know others appear to have suffered similar problems, but so far I've found no resolution.

       

      I have been happily using an Intel DX58SO, with a an Intel Extreme processor, GEForce video card, and 3 x 6 Gb sticks of Corsair memory, for about three years.  A couple of weeks ago, having turned the computer off the previous day, upon starting the following day, there was no output to the video screens (dual screens).  The fans were running, necessary inside-case lights on, etc., etc.

       

      I was baffled by this, and took the video card to a friend who tested it satisfactorily.  I also got another friend to test the PSU.  It was suggested that the problem may lay in the motherboard, CPU, or memory.  I want to keep this set up, if at all possible, so I opted to replace all three systematically (at great expense) in the hope that a solution would be resolved before I got to having to buy a new CPU..

       

      So I bought a new DX58SO, reassembled everything, (leaving unnecessary ancillary stuff disconnected) and it worked, and booted into Windows 7.  I powered down the machine, reconnected all my USB leads, etc., switched on again, and no video again.  No amount of switching on and off could coax any video out of the thing.

       

      I thought that perhaps there was an intermittent fault with the GeForce card, so bought a new Asus GeForce 650 ti.  Put THAT into the machine, and lo and behold, video!  Powered off, and then back on again to check I wasn't imagining it - no video again.

       

      One thing I DID notice, though, was that the blue "Power on" LED on the front of the machine no longer comes on when the machine is running - I've checked the connection, which seems OK.  Otherwise all appears normal other than the lack of video.

       

      So, I am stuffed.  Is it worth the expense of another Extreme processor, or power supply (which may have an intermittent fault) or do I just give up?

       

      It's all very, very frustrating, and any pointers which anyone may have, I would be very grateful for

      58SO motherboards in succession

          Please bear in mind that this product has reached its End of Interactive Support so Intel no longer provides interactive support for this product via telephone, chat or e-mail.

           

          I would suggest you to take the system out of the chassis, place it on a non-conductive surface like a newspaper, a magazine or something similar, leave only motherboard, power supply, processor and Heat Sink/fan. Remove all the rest of components

           

          Clear the CMOS removing the CMOS battery and all power cables from the power supply to the motherboard, leaving the system without power for 20 minutes at least

           

          After the 20 minutes reconnect the 2x12 and 2x2 power cables. Power up the system and check if the system beeps

           

          If it beeps it means that the system is posting.

           

          If the system does not beep, then add one memory stick and try a BIOS recovery with the instructions on the following site: (you don't need video to try this)

          Be sure to disconnect all peripherals not required for the update, even the mouse, keyboard, hard drives and any other CD/DVD ROM, this may take up to 15 minutes even if there is no display on the system

            Thank you for your reply.  There is no POST beep from either the old, or the new motherboard.  And although I've tried every which way, I can't seem to download the BIOS file onto another computer.
