Whenever I try to update to Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family v188.8.131.527, the installation finishes but the driver version in driver manager reads 184.108.40.2067. I believe the problem is caused from updating the driver to v220.127.116.117, then installing the older version over the new version due to computer issues. The old version installed successfully, but it seems like the files from the new version were not successfully removed/overwritten. Does anyone know how to completely remove the chipset drivers so that I can start from scratch? I know that reformatting is an option; however, I would like to avoid that. If you need clarification, let me know.
This would be expected. I suggest you check the information posted on this article:
From what you can read there, the Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility will just update device names, not drivers, as these are inbox drivers in the operating system itself, hence the version does not changes.
