Can anyone tell me if this is right?

values obtained by core temp 1.0

is this safe? max values occuring with heavy use of the graphics card (GTX 550 Ti)

the graphics card i am having issues with, i basically forgot to clean the computer out and there was a heavy amount of dust in the graphics card fan causing it to overheat and crash. have since fixed this problem but noticed the temperature still isnt great, and the computer does tend to slow right down and struggle which it should do with the specs i have and the kind of games being run.

it doesnt help i have a crap case, that the PSU is at the bottom.. which i have since been told that this can cause over heating as the heat from the psu rises?

anyway ideas guys? do i replace the graphics card (which i really dont want to do because of the cost) or do i replace the case? or could it be the PSU?

Hi Natty123,

Your processor has a TCase value of 72.6°C; anything from the Tcase and below will be the expected temperature of the processor in normal use, anything that doesn't stress out the processor (watching movies, burning CDs, browsing the internet, creating documents, etc.)

When the processor is stressed out meaning that you are running heavy processor applications that take control of the CPU or uses it at 100% the temperature will go beyond the Tcase. It can perfectly reach 80 to 85 degrees and the processor will still be OK. The cooling fan is in charge to keep that temperature there.

If the processor temperature reaches 100 degrees or more it will send a signal to the motherboard to shut down to prevent mayor damages and most likely it will not be possible to turn the computer back in until it cools down.

Intel® has a tool that will test every single component inside the processor and then will generate a report. I recommend you running the tool named Intel® Processor Diagnostics Tool that can be downloaded at the f following link:

run the diagnostic. thank you for your reply, i did a Google search and couldn't find anything similar, i must have been using the wrong keywords!

Natty, since the CPU passed the test, what we can recommend you to use the system out of the chassis for a few days, just to discard the chassis is the one causing this temperatures.

If this is the problem, you may want to get a different cooling fan and heat sink and then check if the temperature decrease.

Regards.

have replaced the case and two days in this is the temp difference:

this is lower, is it low enough or should i replace the cpu fan and heat sink?

Are these temperatures readings after heavy usage?

If you're using small stock HSF those core temperatures are quite normal for load.

Core temperatures are basically hot spot temperatures from hottest parts of CPU and always well above any generic CPU case/package temperatures.
