The new version of Intel® Rapid Storage Technology changed the way the Intel® drive is detected in device manager. However, this is not an issue with the Intel® SSD Toolbox specifically.
Since the way the drive is detected changed in device manager, the SATA controller is not able to translate the TRIM command to the drive. For issues related to Intel® Rapid Storage Technology we recommend reporting the issue to the Intel® Chipset Support Communities.

The Intel SSD Toolbox, and IRST 220.127.116.113, when used with Windows 8, works fine with my 520 SSDs, and my 510 as well.
IRST 18.104.22.1683 is not compatible with all versions of Windows, and also not compatible with older Intel SATA chipsets.
