GMA 950 BSODs whining

I have a GMA 945 Express chipset in this laptop (up to date Windows XP) and during high (system) memory use, Google Chrome and Google Earth have a trick of causing a blue screen of death.

I'm pretty sure it relates to something the Google software is doing with or to the graphics drivers, but hey, no proof (and it's practically archaic hardware).

Hello Max,

I understand you are having problems with the graphics when running Google Earth.

Based on the problem description you are providing, I recommend you updating the drivers you have to the latest ones for your controller.

You can get this driver at the following link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=16835&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20XP%20%20Professional*&DownloadType=Drivers https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=16835&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20XP%20%20Professional*&DownloadType=Drivers

Also it is important for you to update the drivers using the latest software from the system manufacturer side, including the BIOS chipset.

If the system is crashing when using Google Earth, It is important to confirm what the minimum requirements are to be able to run the application.

Google Earth runs fine. Drivers are up to date. Bios is not up to date.

The hard crashes happen occasionally. It's hard to collect much information about it, but the pattern emerging is Chrome or Google Earth having some direct drawing mode open and system memory being mostly used up.

I suppose it is as likely to be ram overheating as it is some weird interaction with the driver.
