First, for 3 TB HDD we recommend to convert from MBR to GPT to install OS on 3TB HDD. Also we would like to inform you that Ubuntu Server is not a supported Operating System for this platform so the support we offer is limited. Our best recommendation is contacting your Linux distribution support group for further assistance on your inquiry. Here are some helpful links :
So do I need to enable UEFI boot like it says on the support page?
If so, how do I do it? Why is the option not in the bios like it says?
If not, why is it written on the support page for this motherboard?
I have checked the manual of your board & it doesn't support UEFI option. Check the manual & see if your board has the option "UEFI" in the BIOS. If it doen't' "which I think thats the case" then you need to format the drive into partions on another PC. Plug it back into your rig & boot.
Hi Frank Jensen,
As Ziad Aghar mentioned, this motherboard doesn't support UEFI, so please go ahead and create some partitions on this HDD and then you can go ahead and install it again on your D845GSEJT.
After setting up the SATA to run AHCI instead of IDE in the bios it works fine. Ubuntu (32 bit version) boots fine, using the a small bios_grub partition (happens automatically during the install)
