Screen resolution

I have a Gateway NV56R14u. Sticked said it came with the Intel HD Graphics 3000. I guess it updated to the 4000 because that is what is in device manager. My issues is the max Screen resolution is 1366x768. For work I need a min of 1440x900. Obviously it would be great if I could get 1920x1080. Is there a driver somewhere I can download to accomplish this? If not would it matter if I got an external monitor to get the resolution I need? Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Matt.

In order to get 1920x1080 screen resolution, your monitor must support that resolution since the screen resolution depends on the monitor, and not the driver or the graphics controller.
