    intel i7 3630qm turbo

    Keith

I recently bought a laptop with this processor. It has a max turbo boost of 3.4ghz. However, after a few days of use.. the cpu speed stops at 3.3ghz and does not max to 3.4ghz, even in heavy load. How do i fix this?

      Laptop: Dell 17r SE

      Processor: intel i7 3630qm 2.4ghz quad

      Video Card: Nvidia gt 650m

      RAM: 16GB

          Hello Keith,

Please note that whenever the system is operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits your unit should be capable to reach up to 3.4GHZ if required as long as this was the max speed set in the BIOS.

If the laptop manufacturer speed is set to 3.3GHZ, this would be the reason why your system is not over passing this parameter.

Our recommendation will be the following:

          • Check the number of cores actives
          • Check the estimated current consumption
          • Checked the estimated power consumption
          • Checked the temperature of the processor

          Regards,

thanks a lot for your reply!

After looking at my processor info, it states that my Max Turbo Boost is 3.39ghz, would this affect the turbo boost monitor to only go up to 3.3ghz?

              Hello Keith,

Yes, that is the reason why your system can not reach the 3.4GHZ.

              Regards,
