I am new to Ivy Bridge but I thought that the base frequency listed in the specs of each processor was what GPU should "idle" at. I have an i5-3210m which has a base frequency of 650 MHz but according to GPU-Z it idles at 350 MHz. When I open a game it will bump up to 1100MHz as it should. The only reason I care is that when I purchased my notebook I had a choice between the i5-3210m and the i5-3337u. I chose the i5-3210m because of the higher base frequency of the GPU. They both go up to 1100MHz. So what is the deference in the GPU's on both of these chips if one has a base of 350 MHz vs 650 MHz and is there something wrong with mine?

It isn't. 650 Mhz is the base frequency and 350 Mhz the Idle frequency.

Hello Joben,
I understand your processor runs at 350 MHz in Graphics based Frequency instead of 650 MHz.
Based on the information from our side, the Graphics based Frequency of the processor model i5-3210m is 650 MHz.
This processor is a mobile version. Due to this, the processor in idle state will decrease the speed for power saving in your system. This is because there are no functions running at that moment and it totally normal and expected.
This situation is expected; however, I suggest you running the Intel® Processor Diagnostics Tool in your system. This application will diagnose the processor components and will report any possible problems with the processor.
You can get the Intel® Processor Diagnostics Tool from the following link:

I hope this is helpful for you.
Thanks.
