i7-3630qm and Memory Compatibility

I own a Toshiba Windows 8 P875-S7102 with the i7-3630qm CPU. I recently added 16gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM with timings of 10-10-10-27. The existing onboard RAM is 8gb of Samsung M471B5273CH0-CK0 with stated timings of 11-11-11-28. Everything else about the RAM sticks is identical (voltage, frequency, etc.) As soon as I added the new RAM I started getting "Event 41" shutdowns (none of which I saw because the computer automatically restarts). These shutdowns would usually come prior to coming out of sleep mode. The system is otherwise stable (no freezes). My question is how tolerant of RAM with different timings is the 3630QM? I ran Memtest86 with no errors. I'd remove the original RAM, but it's underneath the keyboard, and I don't think my computer skills are competent enough to remove it.

Hello Splungeworthy,

The processor i7-3630QM specifications shows that you can use RAM memory up to 32 GB. This information can be checked at the following link:

http://ark.intel.com/products/71459/Intel-Core-i7-3630QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz?q=%203630QM http://ark.intel.com/products/71459/Intel-Core-i7-3630QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz?q=%203630QM

The processor has this limitation however, since this is an OEM system, the computer system manufacturer is able to set more limitation on the chipset of the computer including the RAM capabilities.

In your case, I recommend you contacting the system manufacturer to get the exact specifications of your computer and verify with them the RAM memory capabilities.

Thanks,
