I have a new Dell XPS 12 with Windows 8 64-bit and the 3rd Gen Intel Graphics 4000 graphics card. The system will not play DRM protected video either within the Netflix app or the X-box Video app. After many hours with Dell I contacted Microsoft and was told the 4000 Graphics driver is not compatible with Windows 8. Is this true? What is the fix? To wait for a WHQL driver to be produced for this graphics chipset or to replace the mother board?

Hello Peter,

I understand you are having problems to play DRM protected video either within the Netflix app or the X-box Video app.

Please note that the drivers we have available for the Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500 are fully compatible with Windows* operating systems including Windows* 8.

It is also important to mention that the drivers we provide are generic drivers since we provide the hardware to the system manufacturer like Dell, HP, Toshiba etc… and they will design and create special software for those computers.

I suggest you downloading and installing the graphics driver we have in our download page from the following link:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22375&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22375&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers

If during the installation of the Intel generic drivers you get this message: "driver not validated on this computer", go here for further instructions:

http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm

If issue persist after trying our generic driver, will be necessary to get the customize drivers and special support from the system manufacturer.
