Core 2 CPU E7400 vs XEON processor

I just finished building and installing Windows Web Server 2008 using Intel board S3210SHLC with a Core 2 CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz and on boot I am not receiving 2 beeps, boot message states error code 8180; bios does not support the surrent stepping for processor and somewhere else it states hyper-threading is not capable. My Bios is now at .0046.

Should I have went with a XEON processor?? Will I have problems with the E7400 processor down the road?

Any info would be great.

Thanks

Thomas

afaik you have to get a E8xxx series CPU or Xeon E3110/L3110 if you need Intel VT.

i´m in the same boat here, looking for a CPU with VT support - other series like the E7xxx, E5xxx etc. don´t support Intel VT

and VT will be a requirements to use functions like XP Mode in Windows 7. (which is the best function by far that microsoft has ever given the users).
