I created install cd for current build 4 of ESX 3.5 and it starts up and asks for GUI or TEXT install mode. Then when you select either it immediately crashed with a "kernel panic" FATAL ERROR ESX 3.5 BUILD 4 provides support for the Intel ICH10 SATA controller that Is on this DG45CF Intel motherboard. CPU: intel Core 2 DUO '86 E8500 SLB9K 3.16 GHZ /6M/1333/86 Q827A285 °4 CPU is " EM64T " supported RAM: 4 GiGs VT: support toggled in bios Protected memory support toggle in bios Hard drive SATA/IDE native/AHCI/ toggles in bios This hardware is currently running Windows Server 2008 Standard 64 bit host o/s with Windows hypervisor And Windows Server 2008 Standard 64 bit Guest o/s with SQL Server and Exchange Server. Question 1: Any idea what causing this fatal error? Question 2: Is there perhaps a linux command line switch/parameter I could invoke in the TEXT mode install that could capture the kernel panic fatal error and dump it to ramdisk then offload to a USB pen drive? Thanks for your assistance, Alfred partner@adayton.com BELOW is manual screen capture of ERROR...... ######## POSIX Conformance Testing Kernel Bug @ apic.c: 298!
