I have a DQ35JOE that works fine with older Seagate 1.5Tb, but hangs at boot when a WD RED 2TB 3.5" SATA 6GB/s 64MB Hard Drive is present in the system. It hangs with the cursor flashing at the top left, before the POST check. The Caps-Lock key works to toggle the caps-lock light, and Ctrl-Alt-Del will reboot the system.
I have flashed the BIOS to the latest available, tried different drive combinations, changed the hard disk delay, and reset all BIOS options.
If the drive is hot-plugged to the system it work spendidly, but the system still hangs at the next reboot. The drive does also work fine on a plug-in PCIe SATA card.
Note this drive has 4096 rather than 512 bytes blocks, unlike the other drives in the system.
How do I get these modern drives to work with the On-Board Sata?
