Any drive connected to the motherboard in standard BIOS mode will only allow a 2TB bootable setup.
EUFI (IIRC) mode must be enabled and configured for a drive larger than 3TB if the entire space will be used for the operating system.
Note that there are caveats to backup/restore processes/products when the primary partition is larger than 2TB with eUFI mode.
ICH10R/D0 does support physical drives larger than 2TB used as data disks. But your software seems a bit old.
1. The OROM. Normally it's part of system BIOS update. Check with Dell if they have an updated BIOS version for your system.
2. The Matrix Storage Console. Actually the software name has changed from "Matrix Storage Manager" to "Rapid Storage Technology" (RST). Also check with Dell and see if they have an updated version. If not, you can try this one: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/sftwr-prod/imsm
