Getting "Driver_Power_State_Failure" - What is this?

What is "Driver_Power_State_Failure" mean and what is the best way to troubleshoot and fix it? I am running Win 8 64bit and am periodically getting that message along with one that states Windows must restart. With one exception does it start right back up into Windows without any further messages. Today is the first time that after the reboot came the message "scanning and repairing Drive J:" After the scan it reported no errors and went right into Windows.
