    DX58SO won't boot

I installed a DX58SO with the stock intel 920 fan and all booted up great.  The computer ran Vista x64 fine for several weeks.  I decided to change out the CPU fan to a quieter unit.  The unit I chose required me to remove the board to install a backplate to support the fan and heatsink (it was a Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 120mm SSO CPU Cooler.)  The unit has:

      • Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail
      • CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D

      • GIGABYTE GV-R487D5-1GD Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 video card
      • Several SATA hard drives and a SATA dvd burner

      • COOLER MASTER UCP RS700-AAAAA3 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Power Supply

After installing the new heatsink/fan and reinstalling the board, memory, video card, connecting the SATA drives, fan, sound, on/off switches, etc., the system wouldn't boot.  Everything would power on for perhaps 1/2 a second and then power off with no beep codes.  I then took everything apart and re-installed the stock Intel CPU heatsink and fan and the board still doesn't boot - 1/2 a second of power on then automatically shuts off with now beep codes.

Any ideas on what to try next?
