Hello,

I recently installed a Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 card into my Intel DH61AG motherboard installed in one of the mini-pcie slots. The wireless range of the machine is terrible though. The computer is running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.

From about 2 feet away from the router, with the case lid off, I get 4 bars of connection according to Windows.

From about 2 feet away from the router, with the case lid on, I get 2 bars of connection according to Windows.

From about 50 feet away from the router, withe the case lid on or off, I can't see my network at all.

I have tried updating the driver through Windows. Windows says that the driver is updated. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly apprecaited.

Thanks,

David

Hello dmacke,

Please be aware that the type of integration you are attempting is usually handled directly by the OEM manufacturer with complaint with the FCC regulations as the system must be certified in order to be allowed to use a radio emitting device.

You may take a look at the following link for more information:

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-011644.htm http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-011644.htm

In this particular situation what we could advise that you have the latest BIOS and the latest chipset driver in order to allow the wireless be detected and handled by the system.

In case of short range problems you may need to take a look at the antennas but again as this is not supported through this channel there are no recommendations that we could provide I would suggest contact the motherboard support at mailto:crmotherboard@mailbox.intel.com crmotherboard@mailbox.intel.com or check their forums at /community/tech/desktop/content http://intelopenport.hosted.jivesoftware.com/community/tech/desktop/content.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
