Hi Brassman. I do have the same problems installing WS 2003 using these mother boards. And still now I couldn't find any drivers to be capable to activate all the hardware, for instance, and mainly, the LAN Controller driver. Is too bad for Intel... But I can understand the reason; maybe Intel is forcing us to use just server main boards... Hey Intel, can you release drivers for WS 2003???
As far as I know Intel will not release server drivers for the desktop boards. They clearly states that on the following link:
"Intel® Desktop Boards do not currently support Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or 2008. There are no plans for making drivers available for this operating system. "
Yes, as you said before. If you want more stable boards and require to run reliable server applications on a server environment then the Intel Server boards might be recommended. Some lucky people might get it to work with some Windows XP drivers, but nothing can be guarateed. If it works, then it's good but most of the time it may not work.
You may be able to install the OS but some components will still need the correct driver to work properly, such as the ethernet controller as you said.
You can try the following driver for the LAN if you wish: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=3003&lang=eng
For the other drivers, I do not have any other suggestions of where to get the drivers for W2003S.
Hope this will be helpful.
Sometimes we need to test some software functions under server systems, but in a cheaper machine, that's the reason... But ok, I imagine that... And... thanks a lot, it worked well. Is just what I needed... The audio driver, I found it at Realtek site (http://www.realtek.com).
