Intel HD Graphics 4000 - UI flickering in game

I recently purchased a HP computer in November with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 card. I play a computer game called Second Life and there is an issue with the graphics card that causes a color glitch and flickering in the UI. I have been researching for months and it seems to be an issue with the current graphics driver. People have reported that the problem did not start until the latest driver update and for those that have hybrid cards upon switching to the discrete graphics card they no longer have the problem. I am wondering if this issue has been reported and if there will be another update to the driver soon that can fix it.

seems like all is lost, if you have an hd 4000/3000 video, for example, I play avp2, a game over a decade old, and it has issues.

which means, HD 3000/4000 will ALWAYS have issues, and its a lost cause to spend months looking for a fix

check out this video and see for yourself

Thanks for the info sangelkt! Can you try some things for me when you get the chance?

1. Your graphics driver version is .2817. HP* has released a newer driver for your machine, .2857. You can download it here; http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4132&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5312249# N764 Software & Driver Downloads HP ENVY m4-1015dx Notebook PC | HP® Support

2. It wouldn't hurt to upgrade the BIOS on your machine either. You're using version F.03, and they have F.13 released (also from the same link above).

Give these a try and let me know if your issue is resolved or not.

Thanks,

-Nic

Hi masterjunior,

You are saying that with the latest driver version (.3071) you are still experiencing flickering, missing textures, and the game crashing? Are you experiencing all of these issues?

Can you provide a copy of your current DxDiag so I can take a look? (Start -> Run -> Dxdiag -> Save All Information).

Also, if you have a video of the issue still occurring, by all means provide a link to it here and we'll take a look at that as well

Thanks,

-Nic

I have a similar computer (Asus Zenbook Prime) with the 2012 HD 4000 integrated graphics. Had the same problem of bad flickering and some other issues with strange colors.

I've upgraded to the latest 64-bit Intel drivers and the latest Second Life client. The flickering seams to have gone completely away (as has the mis-coloring issue). On top of that, I seam to have gained about 5fps in the game client after the driver update.

I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with the 64-bit Intel graphics driver (9.18.10.3071). Second Life client version 3.6.1 (278007).

I am having the same problem, but I have noticed when logging into Second Life's third party viewer "firestorm", that as I start the log in, the page keeps dropping and showing as 'Not Responding' as if its frozen. Once i'm logged in, the complete viewer is flashing on and off as if connection is lost and regained repeatedly. below is my dxdiag from my Toshiba:
