AES-NI not available on Core i7-3615QM

    Konstantin

Hello! We have bought Samsung  700Z7C-S02 laptop with Intel Core i7-3615QM that should support AES-NI, but no one program shows that it is available. TrueCrypt shows that hardware AES not supported, CPU-Z show that AES instructions not supported. How it can be? Samsung's support says that it is impossible and programs show incorrect data.

      Best regards, Konstantin

The Intel(R) Core(tm) i7 processor I7- 3615QM leaves the Intel(R) facilities supporting AES-NI; however, please keep in mind OEM/tray processors are often customized by the different system builders for them to adapt it to their system design and support.

From our side, we recommend you confirming with the system manufacturer whether this feature is indeed supported on your computer.

If it is, what you may want to do is check that the processor is being properly recognized and properly working.

For this matter, you can perform the following troubleshooting:

1- Update your motherboard BIOS for a proper processor recognition.

2- Run the Intel(R) Processor Identification Utility to see how the processor is being recognized: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=7838

3- Run the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool to verify the processor's functionality: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-031726.htm
