RST software won't start after a successful iSCSI IET connection.

    zfox

Hi everyone, I recently used the iSCSI initiator from MS (included in Win7 pro) to connect to my IET target. This procedure was successful and now I have a new disk device that is listed under the name “IET VIRTUAL-DISK SCSI” in windows device manager. The problem now is that the RST software won’t start at all.

I also have a RAID 0 configuration (Intel’s controller with v10.8 OROM) and an SSD 510 (120GB) model from Intel. The version of RST is the latest 11.6. Anyone experienced a similar issue? This is probably a bug.

          Hello,

for verification - I have the same issue!

As I stop the iscsi service in windows the RST service starts again.

Appears to be a bug. I hope Intel will fix this soon.

          regards

            Hi Constantine and Jürgen!

Would you please post the steps you followed to enable and use this iSCSI IET connection?  Please include all the details you consider important.

            Thanks!

              Hello Fred_Intel,

I have the exactly the same issue on both: windows 7 ultimate x64 and windows 8 professional x64.

To activate the iSCSI connection I went to windows control panel > management > iSCSI initiator,

it asked if the iSCSI service should be launched at startup > yes. Established the connection

to the iSCSI server via IP (destination). Connected the targets with user, pass, both crc32 option ticked (header,  datadigest).

After a reboot intel RST service does not start anymore. I tried to start the RST service manually but it quits immediately. So I suggest it's a conflict between the RST & iSCSI service.

Thanks for the information you provided.  I will post any information here as soon as I have it available.

                  Hi,

                  I can confirm the issue:

Windows Server 2012 iSCSI initiator connected to Windows Server 2012 iSCSI target.

Intel RST 11.7.0.1013 on the initiator machine crashes as soon as soon as the iSCSI connection is established.

                  Same issue with RST 11.6

I can also confirm this issue with RST version 11.7.0.1013 and Microsoft iSCSI initiator enable.  ISDI2.dll is the faulting module.

I have just found the same issue. Stopping the iSCSI service allows RST to startup. I saw somwhere that there was a beta version of code that fixed a similar issue??

This issue was solved for my system with version 12.0.0.1083 of RST. Thanks.
