ivy bridge HD4000 freeze win7 ?

Hi,

I have a new desktop , the configuration is as follows:

cpu/gpu: 3570k/HD4000

motherboard: asus P8Z77-VLK

memory: G.Skil 4Gx2 1600 DDR3

disk: ssd 120G

win 7 professional 64bit

It's a new installed machine, not many software installed. The problem happens most time when I'm using the web browser.

When the windows freeze, I can not do anything (mouse and keyboard do not react, actually, it is the whole windows freeze. websites opened in the middle stuck there forever) but shut down the machine and reboot.

I was using chrome before. After searching for a while, I found this is a known issue between the HD4000 and chrome. see following urls

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57461768-263/google-chrome-crashing-new-macbook-airs/ http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57461768-263/google-chrome-crashing-new-macbook-airs/

So i uninstalled chrome and change to firefox, but the problem is still there.

The driver for my HD4000 is also latest 8.15.10.2761 . I update the bios to the latest version too.

What shall I do? I know buy a dedicated video card is one option and I'm going to do that later. But, then, what's the point of including a GPU in CPU if it's making trouble.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I have tried the driver listed above. It does not help.

Windows still freezes. Most time, it freezes after I start the machine in a short period. One time, it freezes just after I logged in. One time, it freezes even in the log in window.

If the machine runs for a long time, then the probability it freezes becomes low (according to my experience).

I monitor the temperature of CPU and motherboard, both are fine, about 30c.
