Intel Driver Update Utility not working on Windows XP Professional

    njguy63

I have two Windows XP professional PC's and the Intel Driver Update utility crashes and does work on both of them.

Both PC's  have firefox 15.0.1 , Chrome and IE 8 latest version and Java 1.7.0_07 and all browsers fail with the same error.

When I run the Intel Driver Update utility I see this error message below in a popup window:

      java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: SRLProxy.start()J

      at SRLProxy.start(Native Method)

      at SRLApplet.start(srlapplet.java:315)

      at com.sun.deploy.uitoolkit.impl.awt.AWTAppletAdapter.start(Unknown Source)

      at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source)

      at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

The Intel driver update utility works fine on my Windows 7 Laptop with all the same browser's version and Java.

I tried installing the Intel utility manually and that didn't help any.

I am thinking Intel needs to look into a fix for Windows XP operating system.

Does anyone have Windows XP PC where the Intel Driver Update Utility is working?  If so can you specify what version software your using?

      Thanks

Nope, the problem is not on your side. It's just System Requrements Labs who grandiosely failed by linking the tool to a wrong (ie too recent) SDK, so all their executable files now require kernell32.dll from Vista or newer. Until that's fixed, all XP user are out of luck.

Btw, if anyone from Intel wanted to pursue this, the last version that wasn't miscompiled is 4.5.5, they skipped 4.5.6 and 4.5.7 and all the version after it (including current 4.5.9) are broken.

Folks, Sorry for the delay in responding. We've contacted the utility vendor and are awaiting their update on the sighting. More to come. Regards, John

                  All,

We apologize for the delay. A fix has been implemented and published to a new iDUU binary which addresses the Windows* XP Intel Driver Update utility issue. Our vendor has updated the tool and users with XP systems should no longer be impacted.

                  Regards,

                  John

I am using Firefox browser version 16.0.1 and latest version of Java 1.7.09 and the Windows XP Intel Driver Update utility still does not work and has a Java Security warning appear saying:

"The publisher cannot be verified by a trusted source. Code will be treated as unsigned"

                      - Java Version 7 Update 9 in Windows* XP Service Pack 2

                      - Uninstall System Requirements Labs for Intel.

                      - Delete all temporary files for all browsers.

                      - Run IDUU again.

                      Result:

IDUU worked properly in the following browsers:

                      IE 8.0.7601

                      Firefox 16.0.1

                      Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m

You may also want to reset your browser settings and uninstall and reinstall Java.

I can confirm it works in IE. I don't have access to a machine with Java right now, so I will have to test that later. Thanks for the fix.
