Static IP Configuration using SCS 8.1

      Hi,

I’m trying to configure AMT 8.0 client(Intel’s DQ77MK) via remote configuration using SCS 8.1.  Configuring AMT with DHCP went successful, but AMT using static IP does not.

Target machine is running Windows 7 64bit, IP: 192.168.24.200, mask: 255.255.255.0 DNS 192.168.24.10, Gateway 192.168.24.5.

Do I miss something? Please, give me an advice.

The profile I used is as follows:

      Profile2

      Network Settings

FQDN will be the same as the Primary DNS FQDN

IP will be same as host (for static IP only)

      Network Configuration

           WiFi

Do not enable synchronization of Intel® AMT with host platform WiFi profiles

      System Settings

           Enabled Management Interfaces:

           Web UI

           Serial Over LAN

           IDE Redirection

           KVM

                RFB password not defined

Timeout for user consent: 5 minutes

Power Management Settings: Always On (S0-S5), Timeout if idle: 10 minutes

Intel® AMT set to respond to ping requests

Fast Call for Help (Within the enterprise network) is Enabled

The way of doing host passed provisioning with the OS as a Static IP and needing to establish a static IP for the MEBX is thru the use of the command line from the client. Do not manipulate the network settings thru the actual profile as indicated in your post, just leave those settings as default.

Navigate to the acuconfig.exe file from your SCS 8.1 installation from the client.  Then enter the following sample command

          “Acuconfig.exe /lowsecurity /output console configamt basic.xml /decryptionpassword P@ssw0rd /NetworkSettingsFile networksettings.xml”

The basic.xml file should be created via SCS and then exported as  .xml file, which is placed in the configurator folder

The networksettings.xml file comes in the SCS download under sample files folder

          I hope this helps,

            Joe,

Thank you for your reply.  Let me confirm two things.

            1. contents of networksettings.xml is copied to AMT machine's statis IP setting?

            2. SCS's profile setting:  "Use the same IP as the host(for static IP only)" is not working?

            Thanks in advance.

I have been looking into this the last few days and I found that the basic rule is the host IP address MUST be DHCP enabled, not static.

•The Intel AMT system must be configured to receive its IP address from a DHCP server. The DHCP server must support option 15 and return the local domain suffix. - per page  SCS8.1 User Guide.

Yes the networksettings.xml file is what will configure the MEBx network settings.

Using the profile setting of  "Use the same IP as the host(for static IP only)" will work, when the host OS is configured for DHCP.

                I understand.

                Thank you for your support.
