    eSATA on Gigabyte EP45-UD3P (ICH10R)

      Hello,

I've got the above motherboard which came with a SATA-to-eSATA PCI bracket (with 2 ports) which I've connected to the Intel ICH10R ports. The ICH10R is currently running in AHCI mode. Under Device Manager, the Intel ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller is listed as using iaStor.sys.

I'm able to get hot-plug working, however all of the hot-plugged devices are marked as permanent drives. The ports when viewed in the Intel Rapid Storage control panel show up as "internal". Is there any way of marking the 2 ports I'm using for eSATA purposes as "external" so that I have the ability to eject the drives via the Windows "Safely remove hardware" function.
