    Raid Controller mess.

    condition

Hello, I have a PC main details of which are as follows:

      - CPU Intel Core i7 2600 (1155/P67/DDR3)

      - SSD OCZ 160 GB PCI-E

      - 2 x HDD  Seagate SATA III 1.5 TB 64 MB green

      Now to the question:

      - I have the OCZ SSD in raid0 setup through BIOS, 4 X 40 GB raid0, and of course the operating system there

      - The 2 HDDs again in raid0 setup through BIOS, 2 X 1.5 TB used for storage

During boot, after showing the two raid0 setups, if I enter the BIOS > Advanced > Integrated Peripherals, I see the following screen, that I photographed in order to see further options:

Now when I boot to windows 7 x64, at the device management is see 5 storage controllers. Forgive my ignorance, but do I need all these 5? As I am not experienced hardwarewise, I cannot understand which raid controller is used for the SSD and which for the two HDDs.

Another thing that I do not understand is what to select at BIOS the SATA configuration mode. I have the options [IDE] [DISABLED] [AHCI] [RAID] and I have set it to raid. Should I choose the [AHCI]?

          Micheal,

This does not look like an Intel motherboard, what board are you using?

You'll want to consult the vendor of the board for the best configuration, as per this document.

No such thing as a MSI-7681 on their web site.

So you have an Intel 6-series chipset of some kind, given your CPU. Your board also has a Marvell and JMicron add-on SATA chipsets, or add on boards. A couple of the multiple controller entries are caused by multiple drivers installed on them, when you changed SATA modes back and forth, not a good thing.

Next, why would you use the Marvell and JMicron SATA controllers that are grossly inferior to Intel chipsets? Still need to figure out your board.

Parsec thanks a lot for taking the time to check at MSI and also for your interest. I was home all weekend and didn't have access to my work's PC. Now that I returned I am listing the details of my system immediately.
