Intel DX58SO and OCZ Agility 3

    izahorik

I just purchased an OCZ Agility 3 SSD, due to a hard drive failure, which caused a RAID failure as well.  I presently have 3 other SATA drives.  2 are setup for a RAID and then a single SATA drive.  In BIOS it is presently set for RAID.  Will I need to change this to AHCI or can I leave it as RAID (as presently configured)?  Also if I do change this to AHCI will I lose the data on my RAID volume?

      Thank you,

          Hello ,

I understand that you want to know if you need to switch from RAID mode in BIOS to Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) to use your Solid-State Drive.

Depending on your RAID level you may loose the information if you set the SATA ports to Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI), currently you can continue to use the system on RAID mode and use your new Solid-State Drive, you wont experience any problems and RAID mode will support also the Native Command Queuing (NCQ).

          Regards.

But does this also support TRIM or do I have to us AHCI to support TRIM?
