How many 16X PCIe slots the Ivy Bridge i7 3770k support?

      Hi,

I like to use IB i7 3770k to build a new machine. From intel offical web pages, it said the "PCI Express Configurations" for 3770k is "1x16, 2x8, 1x8 & 2x4". Does this mean the 3770k only support ONE 16X PCIe 3.0 slot? I like go for Asus P8Z77-V PREMIUM mainborad for this CPU, but I saw that this mainboard supports dual 16X PCIe3.0 slots. If I use this mainboard for the CPU, will I only can use one 16X PCIe 3.0 slot because the CPU only supports one?

          Hello ,

I understand that you are inquiring about the ability to use more than once PCI Express* 16x device when using the Intel® Core™ i7-3770K Processor.

In regards to your inquire, the amount of PCI Express* 16x slots that will be usable will depend on the motherboard and the Platform Controller Hub (PCH).

It is safe to say that it your motherboard has 2 PCI Express* 16x slots, that you are able to utilize both of them.

          Regards.

          PV
